The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annually sponsors the month-long nutrition and information campaign to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. National Nutrition Month started in 1973 as National Nutrition Week and became a month-long observance in 1980 in response to growing interest in nutrition.
The theme for National Nutrition Month 2026 is “Discover the Power of Nutrition”. Nutrition has the power to help individuals and communities thrive. Discover how food and beverage choices can help power your day. Learn tips for accessing healthy foods in your area and build healthy habits into your day to help you feel great now and in the future.
To engage your school community, please utilize the following campaign resources. They provide several interactive handouts, activity sheets, and educational materials to educate, inform, and empower your students, staff, and families to celebrate healthy eating at school and home.
