Building Healthy Communities: Project Healthy Schools 2025-2026 Application Now Open!

Project Healthy Schools is now accepting applications for new schools to join the BHC:PHS program for the 2025-2026 school year. Building Healthy Communities: Engaging Middle Schools through Project Healthy Schools is a collaborative partnership between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the University of Michigan, and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. Each year we partner to expand our school wellness program to new schools located across the state of Michigan.

We are an evidence-based program that significantly improves middle school student and staff health behaviors through education, environmental change, and measurement. One of the best parts of BHC:PHS is that it is ZERO financial cost to schools. The BHC:PHS team provides all the necessary funding, training, curriculum, and resources for each school, and offers one-on-one support to ensure every school is as successful as possible.

The BHC:PHS program creates a culture of wellness that educates and supports middle school students and staff to increase healthy eating, physical activity, cardiovascular health, and social emotional learning, through wellness events that impact the entire school community and hands-on classroom lessons specifically targeting 5th, 6th, or 7th grade students.

To apply, please visit: Apply Now – Project Healthy Schools by the April 30th deadline!
