Kensington Woods is a 1st year BHC:PHS school located in Lakeland, Michigan. On April 26th, they held their annual Bob Ross 5K to help students get out and get active and in honor of Earth Day, which was April 22nd. According to Kensington Wood’s principal, Jessie Pratt, this is their 4th year doing a school- wide 5k, and the 3rd year doing the “Bob Ross Run for the Trees: Happy Little 5k” inspired by the Michigan DNR’s “Happy Little 5k with Bob Ross”, which is designed to help support the DNR and plant trees. They use it as a school-wide event to raise awareness for environmental health, having students do cleanup on the Lakeland trail, and as an opportunity for students to get out and be active at their own comfort level. Great job to Kensington Woods on encouraging life-long health behaviors that positively impact physical and environmental health!
